১৯৭১ সালের ২ মার্চ ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে সংগ্রামী ছাত্র সমাজের উদ্যোগে কলাভবন প্রাঙ্গণে বাংলাদেশের মানচিত্র খচিত স্বাধীন বাংলাদেশের পতাকা প্রথম উত্তোলন করা হয়। এজন্য ২ মার্চ জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলন দিবস পালন করা হয়।
